Whipstock with mechanical anchor PL-WSMSA

The Whipstock ensures that the milling tools are precisely offset from the borehole axis.

Window (starting) Mill PL-WSM

Used for cutting the window once the whipstock has been set and the shear bolt has been sheared. It can be used alone or in conjunction with a Watermelon mill on a joint of drill pipe. The mill may cut ten to twenty feet into the formation.

Follow (bottom) Mill PL-FBM

Is typically run above the Window mill to assist in further opening the window. The Window mill is dressed witch a slight taper on each end to elongate the top of the window. This mill is also used on the final run with a drill collar.

The Watermelon (top) Mill PL-WTM

Is used on the final run above the follow mill and designed for calibrating the wall in the cut-out window and preparing for the passage of the drilling bit.
